INVEST IN MI KIDS
482forward is a proud member of the IIMK Steering Committee. Invest in MI Kids is a campaign that could raise $1 billion annually for Michigan's public schools by taxing the wealthiest Michiganders (with an income exceeding $500k individually or $1 million for joint filers) at a 5% rate. This money would go directly to Michigan classrooms to fund lowering class sizes, hiring and retaining quality teachers, and career and technical education.

SCHOOL FACILITIES
482forward's Youth Collective is working hard to pass a bill that would help to improve the school facilities crisis across the state. Currently, Michigan is one of only 14 states that does not provide state funding for PK-12 school infrastructure. School districts depend entirely on local property taxes to fund construction and infrastructure improvements. This year the SFRC reported that Michigan school buildings have $23 billion in necessary repairs.

Special Education
482forward's Special Education team hosted their first Special Education Town Hall this year, and plans to push forward working alongside DPSCD's Exceptional Student Education program to ensure families have everything they need to support their students' needs.
