2016 Detroit School Board Elections
Voter Education

The Detroit Education Justice Coalition asked all 68 Detroit School Board candidates to respond to the following 10 questions:
  1. What are the top 3 priorities you hope to accomplish during your tenure?
  2. What do you think the role of the school board is?
  3. What is your vision for student well-being and success?
  4. What experience do you have that prepares you for this role?
  5. How will you engage families and communities to ensure that you are accountable to their needs?
  6. What is your plan to provide equitable special education services?
  7. How will you support developing bilingualism as a skill and ensure that bilingual staff supports families with limited English?
  8. How do you see the relationship between charters and DPS? Do plan to collaborate with charters?  Why or why not?
  9. How will you ensure that certified teachers are in every classroom all year long?
